 My soon to be ride
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2004, 8:47pm »

Well I put some pic's on my server to post. These are the pictures from the guy I purchased from just outside of Calgary last spring. It is sitting on blocks in my driveway right now getting new brakes, tie rods etc. I will take some more recent shots this weekend. I am hoping to be driving in a couple weeks. It will be my daily driver. Have a good one.

Very solid. The only rust is very small holes in the cab corners. That is why I went shopping in Alberta. Everything on the Island and Gr Van area were rust buckets and they wanted the same gold for them. I had it shipped to Vancouver and drove it to Vic from there. Drove very well, I was surprised. Now I'm happy with it.

Well...what to do...I thought about it. Hotrod or stock? I did some intense surfing and have decided to do both. I am first going to restore it stock and then start adding the performance parts of the '5os. Fenton headers, twin carbs, etc...etc. It is amazing what info and products you can find on the internet. And the mickey mouse ears are staying but I'm going to axe the pass side tail light as that was an option of the time. The one upgrade I probably will do is put discs on the front and bendex drums from a newer PU on the back and I found a power assist master cylinder setup that bolts on to the original spot and uses the stock pedal etc. One thought was to drop a diesel in it. I have not heard of anyone doing that???? Anyway, I just want to get it on the road for now.

I think you're headed in the right direction. Upgrading the brakes and hot rodding the six? You've got my vote. How about a dropped axle, lowering blocks, and some wide whites? 8-)

Well, I finally dug out the camera and took a couple flicks of the truck. I made a slideshow from the first pictures that I got when I was looking at buying it, to today.

Should play in Windows media player. If not let me know.

All I have left to do is install a new windshield wiper motor, which should show up this week, and I'm cruisin!

Well was out crusin for a couple days. Had the Safety inspection done and passed with flying colors. Have to wait for another bill of sale from the guy I bought it from cause icbc didn't like the one I had....long story. Once I get that I'm slappin the plates on her.

It was nice to drive around. Found out the carb can use a rebuild kit and the timing needs some fine tuning. Will have to hunt down a 6 volt timing light. Will do it by ear for now. Next investment will be a new clutch, it works fine but it's always nice to know when those kind of thing were last replaced.

Later.

;D That's great new's sablaa,,,
just for your information, you don't actualy have to connect your timing light to the battery on your truck. you can power it using a battery charger or 12 volt battery,,and just put the inductive pickup lead on the No1 cylinder.
